About UC Davis College Corps

UC Davis is a proud partner of the #CaliforniansForAll College Corps program and invite you to be part of the Coalition! Together with local community-based organizations and government agencies, UC Davis College Corps creates meaningful opportunities for students to serve, learn and make a lasting impact throughout the academic year.

The UC Davis College Corps key goals are:

  • Create a generation of civic-minded leaders with the ability to bridge divides and solve problems.
  • Help low-income students graduate college on time and with less debt.
  • Address societal challenges and help build more equitable communities across California.

Eligibility

Fellows will begin their service in September 2026 and complete their service year on or around June 2027. Each Fellow will receive a living allowance of $7,000 and an education award at the end of the service year, paid for by the College Corps grant. 

General Eligibility

To apply, students should meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:

  • Full-time, enrolled undergraduate student at UC Davis for the entire academic year
  • Has a high school diploma or its equivalent by the start of the program
  • Must currently be and remain in good academic standing
  • Ability to commit to the program for the full academic year
  • Must be a US Citizen, US National, legal permanent resident or AB 540 CA Dream Act Student (see below)
Financial Need

Eligible students should meet at least one of the following four criteria:

Undocumented Students
  • Is an AB-540 CA Dream Act Student with a California Dream Act application on file
  • Is a Cal Grant A or B recipient

Focus Area Examples

K-12 Education

Direct service supports K-12 students through tutoring, mentoring, classroom support, and family engagement.

Climate Action

Climate action service focuses on education and civic engagement and may include tree planting, fire and flood mitigation, debris removal, environmental stewardship education and training, and weatherization.

Food Security

Direct service advances food security through activities such as food and nutrition support, food production, community and school gardens, food recovery, food literacy, and related coaching, education, and training.

Economic Opportunity

Direct service advances economic opportunity through workforce development, education, and resource navigation and may include job training and employment support, GED/adult education, financial literacy education, and support for access to safe, affordable housing.

How to Apply

The application gathers critical information and includes 3 short essay questions. It will take 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete. It is highly recommended, but not required, that you attend an information session.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with priority given to those that apply by April 2nd.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What is a fellow, and what is a fellowship?
  • Selected undergraduate students will be referred to as College Corps Fellows throughout the duration of the program. The fellowship refers to the year-long commitment and service completed with an external community partner. As a College Corps Fellow, you will be assigned an external community partner to work with and complete most of the 450 service hours with this community host site.
  • Will this impact my financial aid?
  • This program will be considered financial aid for the academic year. Each student's financial aid package is different. We encourage you to contact the UC Davis Financial Aid and Scholarships department if you have questions about how this program will impact your unique situation.
  • When will I hear about selection if I am a UCD student?
  • College Corps has a rolling application process with five (5) steps. You will be notified at each step if you are moving forward in the process. We anticipate sending final acceptances into the program by July 31, 2025, at the latest.

    Step 3: Select your top three (3) host site choices and submit a letter of introduction
    Step 4: Financial Aid review (to determine eligibility)
    Step 5: Final application review and Acceptance to College Corps
  • Are first-year and incoming transfer students eligible to apply?
  • Yes, both incoming freshmen and transfer students can apply once you have enrolled.
  • Can current College Corps Fellows reapply to serve a second term?
  • Yes. College Corps Fellows can reapply.
  • Is there a separate application for College Corps returners?
  • No. All students complete the same application. However, some questions are only applicable to returners.
  • Are College Corps returners required to attend an informational session?
  • New and returning students are encouraged to attend an informational session.
  • How does transportation to host sites work?
  • Each Fellow is responsible for their own transportation to and from their host site. In the application, you will note whether you have transportation, what kind (car, bike, etc.) you have and how far you are willing to travel. We will work hard to ensure placements are within a reasonable distance based on your responses. Do not let transportation be a deterrent to applying.
