Johana Ramirez-Zapien is a dedicated student services and youth development professional committed to expanding educational access and empowering students to reach their full potential. With extensive experience in program leadership, academic advising, and community engagement, she has developed and led impactful initiatives that support students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.
In her role as an Advisor for College Corps at UC Davis, Johana provides holistic academic, career, and personal advising to undergraduate students participating in the statewide service fellowship program. She supports students as they navigate academic planning, career exploration, and community-engaged learning opportunities in fields such as K–12 education, climate action, and food insecurity.
Johana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Art History, as well as two Master’s degrees in English (with an emphasis in Gothic Literature) and Spanish Literature. She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Education in the coming years, with the goal of advancing research and developing innovative programs and resources that support underrepresented and migrant students. Through her continued scholarship and leadership, she is committed to creating sustainable pathways that empower future generations to thrive academically and professionally.

The best advice I have received has been to jump into the water even if I don't know how to swim. Meaning that even if I am not sure or don't know how to do something that its okay to still go for it.
